The Liberal Arts: Humanities and Communications plans to hold a Grammar Summit titled, “Tools, not Rules: Looking at Grammar through the Lens of Equity, Inclusion, and Access.”
The purpose of this summit is for writing professors and tutors to talk about how teaching and assessing grammar is influenced by our ideas about liberal arts education as a means of fostering critical thinking skills for success in a pluralistic society. Ideas explored at the summit might include the place or purpose of teaching and learning grammar in college, student equity and inclusivity, the role grammar plays in achievement in higher education, and creative approaches to grammar tools for students.
